Introduction

In wind induced ventilation the pressure differences of wind blowing against a building will cause a pressure difference on the buildings surface and airflow will be created between the areas high pressure in the wind ward side and areas of low pressure in the leeward side. A simplistic representation of the high and low pressure sides is seen in the figure below, although differences in the air pressure are more complex in real world situations.

Policy

Wind driven ventilation lies as a basic and baseline requirement for all the building energy codes as an effective passive strategy, both for energy savings and cost reduction.
