The following standards and building codes provide specifications of building insulation requirements and specifications of heat transfer from building envelope.

International ISO 6946:2007 - Building components and building elements – Thermal resistance and thermal transmittance – Calculation method Provides calculation method for the thermal resistance and thermal transmittance of opaque building components excluding fenestration systems, doors, other glazing units and components which involve heat transfer to the ground.
India Energy Conservation Building Code Holistic building energy code with information minimum requirement for wall, roof and floor insulation for buildings in various climate zones
UK CIBSE Guide F: Energy Efficiency in Buildings Holistic guide on energy efficiency in buildings with information on efficient ventilation and air conditioning design and control systems
USA ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2013 - Energy Standard for Bui dings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings Provides minimum requirement for wall, roof and floor insulation for buildings in various climate zones (among other key indicators that effects energy efficiency in buildings)
USA California Energy Commission – 2008 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Non-residential Buildings. (The new 2013 Standards will go into effect on July 1, 2014) Holistic building energy code with information minimum requirement for wall, roof and floor insulation for buildings in various climate zones
